Okinawan Karate Club of Arlington and the Okinawan Karate Club of Grand Prairie,  teaches traditional Okinawan Shorin Ryu karate as taught by Eizo Shimabukuro O'Sensei and Okinawan Shudokan karate as taught by the late Walter Todd Sensei.  Okinawan weapons training and traditional martial arts training.  No contracts & low monthly dues.  Lyn Hunt Sensei and assisted by Jackie Pinson Sensei. 

Lyn Hunt Sensei has been training in the martial arts for almost 30 years. He began his training while in the military in 1974 in traditional Tae-kwon-do for a year.  After being transferred to another duty station he became interested in Chinese Kempo and trained for 2 years and his instructor was transferred. Then he started Shotokan where he trained and earned his nidan in 1987.  After moving to Texas from Washington DC in 1989, he found a similar style, Shorin Ryu, where he started training in 1993 with Bill Carroll Sensei in Grand Prairie at the O.S.A.K.I dojo.  He continued his training with William Carroll's Shorin Ryu instructor, Ilene J. Smoger Sensei of the Okinawan Karate Club of Dallas.  He was awarded his shodan in 1996, and  his nidan in 2001 and his sandan in 2005 from Grandmaster Eizo Shimabukuro.  Lyn works with the out reach program at TWUM church and the Salvation Army Family Center where he volunteers as well as teaches the kids self confidence, pride and getting a good education.
 

 

Jackie Pinson Sensei has been training in the martial arts for 13 years.  She began her  training in 1991 with Lyn Hunt Sensei in Shotokan.  In 1993 she began training in Shorin Ryu with Bill Carroll Sensei in Grand Prairie at the O.S.A.K.I dojo.  She continues to train under Carroll’s Sensei’s Shorin Ryu instructor, Ilene J. Smoger Sensei at the Okinawan Karate Club of Dallas.  Jackie earned the rank of  shodan in 1997 and nidan in 2002.  Jackie spearheaded the martial arts outreach program at Trailwood United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie where both she and Lyn Sensei teach on Thursday nights.  Tuesday’s classes are taught at the Salvation Army Life Center on Abram St, in Arlington.

 

Classes are Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7-9 PM
